How will the 2014 draft first round shake out? It?s all up in the air this early but here is a sketch of what we can expect a little less than a year from now in the bottom half of round one.

17. New Orleans Saints ? OLB/DE Adrian Hubbard Alabama

The Saints should round back into the form we are used to and look much better as Sean Payton returns to the sidelines. I don?t except them to compete for a title just yet though. They need some help generating pressure and Hubbard is able to get to the quarterback while being physical and strong at the point of attack.

?

18. Dallas Cowboys ? DT/DE Will Sutton Arizona St.

The Cowboys decided to pass on some very talented defensive linemen this past April and that could burn them come fall. Sutton is active and crafty with an unrelenting mission to get into the opponents backfield.

?

19. Pittsburgh Steelers ? DT Anthony Johnson LSU

Casey Hampton was one of the more underrated players for the decade of success the Steelers have enjoyed. Alameda Ta?Amu and Cameron Heyward?s contracts won?t expire next summer but neither are in position to be the long term answer aside from a breakout year for one of them. Johnson is getting a lot of praise as a big time defensive tackle prospect and potential first rounder.

?

20. Indianapolis Colts ? CB Jason Verrett TCU

Verrett is undersized but has the cover skills to excel in the heavy man coverage scheme the Colts are looking to run. He is an above average tackler despite his size, but its his athleticism and ability to anticipate routes that makes him a potential Pro Bowler.

?

21. Detroit Lions ? OT Antonio Richardson Tennessee

The Lions have avoided finding a long term answer at tackle but keeping Stafford healthy in the long term demands such a move. Richardson has better feet than one would think given his massive frame and should be a stud at right tackle but don?t count out his ability to man the left side either.

?

22. St. Louis Rams (From Washington) ? RB Kadeem Carey Arizona

After adding some fire power to the offense St. Louis will hope Sam Bradford will return to his rookie season form. If so adding an athletic downhill runner in Carey could put them over the top.

?

23. Chicago Bears ? CB Loucheiz Purifoy Florida

The Bears could use a corner and Purifoy has the measurables to make scouts salivate. At 6?1 and with burner speed the Gators already deploy him as an ace on special teams and plan to use him on offense as well this year. Could he be a Devin Hester 2.0?

?

24. New York Giants ? CB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu Oregon

The recent attempts to solidify the corner position for the G-Men has had mixed results. This class has some true studs at the position. The 5?10 Oregon Duck is a solid athlete who plays physical and aggressive (at times too much so) and should be a fan favorite for that style of play.

?

25. Cincinnati Bengals ? DE Trent Murphy Stanford

Trent Murphy is a consistent player who could help the Bengals form a terrific young core of talent on the defensive line. Other options could be Aaron Lynch, Jackson Jeffcoat or one of the several talented corners available.

?

26. Atlanta Falcons ? DE Jackson Jeffcoat Texas

With John Abraham gone the Falcons pass rush could struggle. Jeffcoat isn?t as pure a 4-3 defensive end as Atlanta might like but his combination of size and speed could negate that concern.

?

27. Houston Texans ? TE Colt Lyerla Oregon

Lyerla could be a breakout star as the Ducks look to use the versatile Aaron Hernandez like talent, at least on the field. He lines up as fullback, out wide and as a traditional tight end, something scouts will love.

?

28. Seattle Seahawks ? OLB Kyle Van Noy BYU

Russell Wilson and company have things rolling as Pete Carroll and the front office personnel keep a steady stream of talent heading to the Pacific Northwest. Van Noy would be just another nice piece to add to a stellar roster.

?

29. Denver Broncos ? CB Aaron Colvin Oklahoma

It seems like every year the draft community mocks a corner to Denver in part because Champ Bailey can?t play forever. Colvin is a do it all corner with size, ball skills and tackling ability.

?

30. Green Bay Packers ? WR Brandon Coleman Rutgers

Jermichael Finley earning a contract extension was a surprise to some (me included) but the Pack could still use a big, physical athlete like Coleman to help replace Greg Jennings production.

?

31. New England Patriots ? ILB AJ Johnson Tennessee

Belichik loves to coach players who play the game with passion and provide position versatility. Both are covered with Johnson who is fast, instinctive and physical while also serving as the Vols short yardage back on occasion.

?

32. San Francisco 49ers ? S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Alabama

Like the divisional rival Seahawks the 49ers are set up for the future beautifully with a near flawless roster. One potential area to be upgraded is safety. At this point Clinton-Dix is the only real first round prospect but he earns that grade by utilizing his range and quick feet to cover ground and make plays.
